Common Questions
The answers to the questions we are asked most often about selling a car to Clearview.
No. Clearview may buy your car outright whether or not you are buying from us. If you are buying from us, part exchange is also possible.
It is an indicative range based on the details you give us. The final figure is confirmed once we have seen the car.
Yes. High mileage is not automatically a problem, particularly where a car has a full service history. Tell us about it and we will give you a figure.
Not a problem. We settle the finance directly with your lender. Bring an up-to-date settlement figure, dated within the last seven days or still showing as valid on the day — settlement figures expire because interest accrues daily. You receive the agreed price less the settlement amount. If the settlement is more than the car is worth, you pay us the difference and we settle the agreement in full. Letting us handle the settlement is usually quicker than paying it off yourself, because a car has to show as clear on the security registers before it can be sold on.
We can still look at it. Recorded write-offs need to be valued individually rather than automatically, so we would confirm a figure with you directly.
The V5C, all keys, your service history and any paperwork you have for the car including repair invoices. Bring original photo ID (not a photocopy), proof of address dated within the last three months, and your bank account details in the same name as your proof of address so we can pay you.
We look over the car properly before confirming the figure. That includes a full history check covering outstanding finance, previous keepers and any recorded damage; service records and paperwork; paint condition and signs of previous repair; bodywork and interior condition; tyres, including the spare where the car has one; and a road test and mechanical check. If everything matches what you told us, the figure stands.
By bank transfer, in full, before the car leaves — whether you drop it off or we collect it.
Yes, for a booking fee. The fee starts from £99 for local collections, measured by driving distance from the showroom, and addresses further away are quoted separately. The fee is paid when the collection is booked, before a driver is sent. Collection area and full terms — TBC.
We transfer the vehicle on the DVLA website at handover, which cancels your road tax automatically and registers the car to us. Any refund due comes to you from the DVLA.
